Nensebo is a washing station serving around 700 local outgrowers that deliver there. Due to Nensebo forming a part of the infamous South East coffee zone that includes Sidamo, they used to fall under the ‘Sidamo’ label but it is increasingly being recognised in its own right. The quality of their washed coffee in particular has been grabbing the speciality industries’ attention.
Wild Arabica grows here mostly around 1400 metres above sea level, where the humidity provides ideal conditions.
Solely dried under the sun, it takes on average 12-15 days before the coffee is correctly dried. During this time, it will be covered with a fine mesh between midday and 3pm in order to protect from the sun when its heat is at its most intense.
